Colonial Connections has allowed our university community to experience the connections between our programs, students, staff, and local partners.

Our guests for this episode of Colonial Connections are an example of crossing a number of different borders.

Molly Rosado and Devin Krajewski are SNEHS students who are performing at a high level, but they are both Colonial Ambassadors who greet and tour prospective students on the RMU campus.  They offer valuable insights to our community.

Colonial Connections has allowed our university community to experience the connections between our programs, students, staff, and local partners. Our guests for this episode of Colonial Connections are an example of crossing all of these lines and borders.  Drs. Jessica Kamerer and Betsy Guimond are working with Nursing students on an international partnership. They are leading the students as they develop and present prenatal care orientations for expectant mothers in Uganda.  The students are experiencing and learning while helping to educate the expectant mothers. Colonial Connections has allowed our university community to experience the connections between our programs, students, staff, and local partners.  Our guests for this episode of Colonial Connections are perhaps the best examples of crossing all of these lines.  Briana Bunner and Amber Sobek are students in the Masters Program in Counseling Psychology and they are Graduate Assistants in the Department of Psychology. They both serve many roles in our community and will describe the connections from their perspective as well as the impact they coordinate as vital members of RMU. Colonial Connections - Episode 4

Colonial Connections takes a look at the Community Partnerships that are developed through the Department of Psychology.  Dr. Samantha Monda, the Department Head, and Dr. Neha Pandit, the coordinator for the Master's Program in Counseling Psychology, provides multiple examples of the innovative and flexible opportunities for RMU Psychology students to engage with the community.  Learning opportunties become services for many areas, from children to geriatric populations, and sport psychology to accelerated programs of study, this episode will introduce the wide array of possibilities available.  Colonial Connections is the podcast from the RMU School of Nursing, Education, and Human Studies, hosted by SNEHS Dean, Dr. Mark Meyers.

Schools are a subject of much discussion and debate in our country right now. The impact of the pandemic, changes in teaching methodologies, and the power of in person learning, are all aspects under consideration.  Our guest for this episode of Colonial Connections is Dr. Aaron Thomas, Superintendent of Cornell School District here in Western Pennsylvania.  Dr. Thomas discusses the power of partnerships in his own School District, working with teachers today, and the interaction for future professionals with RMU Education programs and beyond. Peirce Center -- RMU connects to the community in a number of ways, Colonial Connections is a podcast focused on illustrating the ideas and one of the best illustrations is the Bob and Joan Peirce Center for Structured Reading and Teacher Training.The Peirce Center focuses on supporting students in local schools working with Dyslexia. The Peirce Center trains RMU teacher candidates and trains local teachers in best practices all while tutoring dozens of local children after school and year round. These connections are discussed with our guest Amy Jackson who is the Outreach Support Specialist.  The podcast is hosted by SNEHS Dean, Dr. Mark Meyers.

 

Colonial Connections - Episode 1

RISE Center -- RMU connects to the community in a number of way, Colonial Connections is a podcast focused on illustrating the ideas and one of the best illustrations is the Research and Innovation in Simulation Education, RISE Center.The RISE Center uses life-like computerized mannequins and trained actors (standardized patients) in many of our undergraduate and graduate courses The RISE Center is one of only a select few free standing nursing programs in the world accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. These connections are discussed with our guests Nicole Szalla the Director of the Center and Jan Barber the director of the standardized patients program.  The podcast is hosted by SNEHS Dean, Dr. Mark Meyers.
